How do I get an LoR during my AMO rotation?

You will have the opportunity to earn a letter of recommendation from your precepting physician upon completion of your clinical experience. These letters of recommendation are significant, especially when applying to a U.S. or European residency program. The importance of the letter and the weight it carries in your application is determined by its content and its author’s credentials, rather than what letterhead it is written on.

We strongly recommend talking with your physician about the LOR during the last few weeks of your experience.

It is also a good idea to confirm how your physician will distribute your LOR. We recommend asking your physician to upload the letter to your ERAS account (https://www.aamc.org/services/eras/282520/lor_portal.html).
