# What If I need to switch or postpone my clinical experience?

Unfortunately a switch of your program's dates or clinical site would not be possible per the [policy](https://www.amopportunities.org/rotation-policy)

This is because when you make a reservation, you reserve a doctor’s and their staff’s time, initiate our services and a program site’s preparation, as well as close the spot to other qualified applicants. Vacating a program seat often leads to an empty program slot that could have been taken by another trainee, and it affects our relationship with our preceptors who sometimes leave our platform due to placements being vacated.

If you purchased switch protection you will be allowed to switch without the addition switch fee, assuming the program availability and acceptance. Switch protection can be purchased at reservation as an add-on for an additional fee.
